I’ve had this beam for about 10 years. I was going to use it for a fireplace curved mantle however I went a different route. When I selected this beam, I specified free of heart center. That’s why there is no checking on this beam. It’s also #1 select structural 1. The beam is straight as can be, and there is no cupping. It’s hard to find a being this size without cupping, twisting or warping. My wife finally put her foot down and told me to get it out of here.
