This pair of Bose 901 series II speakers is in very good condition. The Series-2 speakers have treated cloth driver surrounds that do not deteriorate over time and don’t need to be replaced like those that used foam. I will demonstrate that both the speakers and equalizer are in proper operating condition and sound great. The grill cloth on the back of one speaker is lighter than the other and has some rough texture in one spot. It was likely placed near a window and faded. But the back of a 901 speaker is placed 12 inches from the wall and is normally not seen. The fronts of these speakers have the original Bose optional wood panels.
The Bose 901 is generally considered to be the best speaker system ever produced by Bose. The system for sale here is the series-2 which was made from 1973 to 1976. New 901s sold for $1,398.95/pair (stands extra) before production stopped in 2016. Many consider the series one and two to be the preferred series because they are sealed, not vented systems. They require more power to drive, but many consider their sound quality to be superior. Others prefer the newer series. I have both these sealed series-2 speakers and the vented series-6 systems for sale.
Bose 901 speakers can fill a room with rich full-range sound from crisp highs to solid authoritative bottom end. And everyone in the room can enjoy the vivid stereo experience, not just the one person who occupies the small “sweet spot” midway between conventional speakers.
