I just bought a classic Buick convertible, so don't have room, or the use for the old Explorer much anymore. This Sport version is loaded with: Air conditioning, electric windows, vinyl upholstery, door locks, cruise control, fog lamps, digital temp & direction gauges inside, number coded alarm outside (never used it), luggage rack, chrome mag-type wheels, & a few other goodies. Sure, it's got miles on it, but it has been well cared for. A few dents & scratches, but it's normally housed in a garage or carport. Great for a handy person or mechanic, to fix some of the items I haven't gotten to yet! If interested, please read on!
Sad to be selling my 24 year old Ford Explorer Sport 2 door! What a great old SUV/wagon! I'm the 2nd owner & after being a real work-horse for its 1st 15 or so years (about 20k miles per year at that time), it's been semi-retired & only driven about 50-80 or so miles per month. for a 24 year old car with 254,580+ miles, about 11,000+- per year average it still looks pretty good & starts right up-runs great! Comfortable, just a bit bumpy due to the old ball joints. This was a good V6 Ford built! Just needs a little love & TLC, to continue to be a great 2nd car! Just changed the oil & rear-end serviced. Does need a few things, hence the lower price:
Ball joints, a small oil leak, rear windshield wiper seems to be acting up; once it's warmed up, shifting to reverse can have some delay of kicking in- always had a "clunk" to it- (doesn't seem to do that when it's cold!), the rear plastic license plate cover with the Ford emblem is cracked & been glued, but they are hard to find! I have the shocks/struts for the rear window, just not installed. It does have a couple of dents from being bumped into, but no tagged accidents, or a salvage title. It will need some tires soon; also the plug-in computer tester under the dash, may need to be looked at; AM/FM radio with CD, but CD is jammed & never worked while I've owned it. Fob was lost a few years back, so keys only.
Thus far, in my 13 or so years I've owned it, I've had repaired or replaced: the cruise control, water pump & radiator, battery, shocks, rear end repaired & serviced, when I bought it, driver's side mirror replaced, also 1 fog lamp, added seat covers, & normal maintenance. If you can do the work on it, or have a good mechanic you know, & take care of it, this SUV will go well over 300k I'm pretty sure. Also have a thick maintenance record book since new, & original Ford Explorer Sport spec & instruction info book as well in zippered cover-nice! Take a test drive with me & you'll see what a nice, old SUV this is.
I don't need help selling this car & no trades. NO lowballs either! Reduced price & Asking $1,500.00.
Cash only or a bank check; I will provide a bill of sale; AAA can register it for you & I'll have the pink slip signed to meet you there, here in Escondido.
