United Access of San Diego, located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, has a 2023 Honda Odyssey EX-L in Platinum White Pearl with 10,897 miles on the odometer offered for sale. This Odyssey has been converted into a wheelchair accessible vehicle by VMI to help people with mobility issues be able to get out and enjoy life like everyone else can.
The conversion includes a custom lowered floor to make room for a wheelchair, computer controlled electronic power deploying and retracting ramp system that's integrated to the passenger side sliding door, an also computer controlled and integrated power kneeling system to lower the van, driver and front passenger seats which are easily removable and built on rolling platforms for moving, strong and simple to use integrated L track system in the floor for securing wheelchairs, as well as many other modifications to make transporting someone with mobility issues safer and much more convenient.
Every single system in this vehicle is completely functional and in good working order. It has been thoroughly inspected by our service department who have certified it ready for delivery. In addition to that, we also had the entire van inspected by a local third party service center. They have gone through the van and given it their seal of approval too. We check, and double check, and triple check these vehicles for a VERY good reason. Having a breakdown for someone with mobility issues is much more difficult and much more stressful than it is for someone without mobility issues. To stand behind our inspection and servicing, we provide a 3 month, 3,000 mile warranty on the entire vehicle AND the entire mobility system. Nobody else comes close to offering the guarantee that we do. It's included at no cost to you.
The system that is installed into, and modified this vehicle with, is very intuitive and easy to operate and live with on a daily basis. The factory key/remote entry system activates both power doors. However when the passenger side sliding door is activated, the BraunAbility system also activates and begins to put the vehicle into loading/unloading mode. The electronically controlled wheelchair ramp begins to deploy. Upon deployment of the power ramp, the integrated kneeling system automatically activates to bring the passenger side of the van closer to the ground. This reduces height of the floor and the angle of the ramp which makes it safer and more convenient to enter or exit the van with a wheelchair or scooter.
Once you have loaded the wheelchair, pressing the passenger side door button performs the same functions, only in reverse. The Electronically controlled automatic kneeling system begins to bring the van up to its standard ride height. The integrated electronic ramp begins to retract back into the vehicle to prepare for driving mode. Once the ramp is fully retracted into the vehicle the powered sliding door begins to close. As the door closes, the integrated kneeling system finishes bringing the vehicle to driving height and you are ready to go!
