This Military truck is a 1983 M931 tractor. It is a 5 ton truck and a 6x6. Both rear axles have full time power, and the front axle is engaged with an air locker. Everything on this truck is air powered, including the windshield wiper motors!

The air compressor is water cooled and driven off an engine accessory belt drive. You can install a Glad Hand air hose connection on any point in this truck. Fresh compressed air is available at any end of the truck with the use of a Glad Hand air compressor connector.

This semi-tractor has a payload rating of 10,000 lbs and can tow up to 37,500 lbs.

It is registered as a Historic CA automobile. You don’t have to worry about the new commercial diesel regulations that are taking effect in 2020.

It has two 55 gallon diesel fuel tanks just rear and under the cab. The switching valve is under the drivers seat.
To start the vehicle you turn the main battery on with a switch in the center console, immediately below that switch is the ignition (or fuel because it’s a diesel) and starter motor switch. Turning both of these switches will start the vehicle. After that you wait until the compressor has charged the air tanks to at least 60 psi. This is the minimum pressure the brakes can operate. After this your off and running.

It has an Allison 5 speed automatic transmission. It has a two speed transfer case, Hi and Lo. Top speed in high is about 58mph, and top speed in Lo is 22 mph.

The engine is a Cummins NHC 250. It is a 14 liter naturally aspirated engine. This engine developes 240 horsepower at 2100 rpm, and 685 ft lb of torque at 1500 rpm. It can haul whatever you need up to 37k lbs!!

The electrical system runs off of 24 volts. It has a 24 volt generator and 4 large batteries under the passenger seat.
This vehicle starts right up, shifts up and down well. Goes into Hi and Lo transfer case. The front differential locks the front diff independent of the rear (only while in Hi, when in Lo the front diff automatically locks). The air brakes work well. The parking brake works outstanding. It can be parked on a hill with a very large angle and the parking brake holds well.
