Offered in this online auction is a 1967 Volkswagen Dune Runner built out of Westminster, featuring a hand-laid modified T-Bird–style body with side pods. This vehicle has been modified from top to bottom and carefully restored after decades of ownership.
Power comes from a VW 1776cc engine with new headers, a 407 Norris cam and gears, and an upgraded stainless steel exhaust (over $1,200 alone). The car rides on Yokohama tires and has a new pan installed with no rust present.
The current owner purchased the vehicle in 1985, raced it off-road for many years, and later completed a full restoration. The vehicle was used for off-roading from 1985 through the mid-1990s and is now street legal with current registration.
The odometer reads 54,720 miles, though the engine and components have only a few hundred miles since the rebuild. A detailed book of repairs is included, containing receipts and photos documenting the restoration, with all work completed locally. No imported or low-quality parts were used.
