This is a PRIMITIVE, OIL- FIRED, TIN HURRICANE LAMP on a tall tin stand with an overall heighth of 16" (with glass globe).

It has a brass fuel tank cap with engraved dates: "PAT. NOV.24.1857 EXTENDED NOV.24.1871"

Usually you see GLASS HURRICANE LAMPS but rarely do you see METAL HURRICANE LAMPS. That’s why ther’re a little more expensive.

The burner assembly is of detailed, exquisite brass with the four brass clips to support the glass globe.

I have been buying and selling hurricane lamps for 30 years and have never seen one like this. This is a VERY OLD LAMP!
