This is a very early primitive (1700 -1800's) hand lighting lantern using a wax candle for light. There are four (4) glass panes of glass in this tin lantern each measuring 5" tall x 3" wide. It has a flip-top door opener that opens one of the window pane doors for easy access to the candle. The candle sits atop a tin candle holder that slides in and out of the lantern for easy cleaning and candle replacement. There is a grooved track for the candle assembly to be placed in or removed. There is a hoop styled handle for easy holding. The overall dimensions are 14" tall x 5" wide. It weighs 3 pounds.
