Position summary
Our 20+ acre boutique hotel and campsite in San Diego County is looking for a versatile and energetic handyman or handycouple to ensure our property is immaculately maintained. The ideal candidates will have solid skills in the key areas of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry and thrive in a hands-on, outdoor environment.
This is a resident position, requiring a strong work ethic, a friendly disposition toward guests, and the ability to be on-call for occasional emergencies.
Duties and responsibilities:
Skilled Trades: Execute repair and maintenance tasks, including plumbing issues (leaky faucets, drains), basic electrical work (fixture replacement, troubleshooting), and carpentry (framing, trim, furniture repair).
Well System Management: Regularly monitor the on-site private well, including the pump, filtration, and pressure systems. Perform routine maintenance and coordinate with specialists for major issues.
Grounds Maintenance: Conduct landscaping, including pruning shrubs, raking leaves, and maintaining trails and walkways across the expansive property.
Preventative Maintenance: Implement and track a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure all facilities remain in excellent condition.
Guest Interaction: Serve as a friendly and professional point of contact for guests needing maintenance assistance.
Applicant requirements:
Experience: Prior experience in property management, hospitality, or a similar field is highly desirable.
Experience managing large, multi-acre properties is a plus.
Technical Skills: Must have proven proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools related to plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
Well System Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of well and water systems is required.
Pet-Friendly: Must be comfortable living on-site with up to two well-behaved pets.
Physical Demands: Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Tools and Transportation: A reliable vehicle capable of navigating the property and a complete set of professional handyman tools are mandatory.
