About Us
Alpine Acres Sanctuary Farm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary and beyond-organic farm on 20 acres in Alpine, California. We rescue and care for nearly 200 animals across 32 species, and we're open to the public daily. Our mission is rooted in animal welfare, sustainable agriculture, and community connection.
The Role
We're looking for a warm, organized, and reliable person to be the face of our sanctuary and a key part of our daily operations. This is a hands-on, varied role — no two days are exactly alike. You'll be welcoming guests, running our small retail area, supporting our volunteer program, and keeping our office running smoothly.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
• Greet and orient arriving guests; answer questions about the farm and mission
• Sell admission tickets, merchandise, and farm produce; handle POS transactions accurately
• Recruit, communicate with, and coordinate volunteers — including scheduling and onboarding
• Perform light bookkeeping tasks (recording transactions, tracking petty cash, basic data entry)
• Handle general office tasks: printing forms, filing, correspondence, supply management
• Support special events and the Executive Director as needed
What We're Looking For
• Friendly, professional, and comfortable with the public — including children and large groups
• Organized and self-directed; able to fill slower hours productively without being told what to do
• Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience (QuickBooks)
• Comfortable with animals and a farm environment
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the sanctuary's mission
• Experience with volunteers or community coordination is a plus
