The Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects. This position assists the Project Manager in coordinating project activities, managing documentation, and ensuring that work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. The Project Engineer serves as a vital link between the office and the field, working closely with superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
Prepare, track, and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and meeting minutes.
Assist in coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews to ensure efficient execution of work.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress, verify quality, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Support cost control efforts by tracking budgets, forecasts, and productivity reports.
Maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Communicate with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve design and field issues.
Participate in project meetings, providing updates on status, challenges, and solutions.
Assist with project closeout including punch lists, O&M manuals, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in a project engineering role within commercial, residential, or civil construction.
Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, contracts, and building codes.
Proficiency with project management and construction software (e.g., Raken, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Project).
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
Experience with estimating, value engineering, and cost analysis.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and site safety practices.
Work Environment
This position requires both office and field work. Travel to active construction sites is expected.
