Job Description:The Business Reporting Developer (BRD) is responsible for modifying existing and creating new forms and reports within a variety of reporting tools. All forms/reports will connect to an MS SQL backend database, and familiarity with SQL and ability to interpret, modify, and create advanced SQL Views and Stored Procedures is required. Successful candidates will have strong communication skills and be comfortable evaluating custom reporting needs with end users of all levels. Experience with developing reports within Crystal Reports or Excel using backend VBA is preferred.
The BRD will be responsible for each request from initiation through final delivery, including:
Working with end users to understand request and gather requirements, such as obtaining specifications, defining scope of work, identifying necessary user input and expected outputs
Evaluating request and developing a statement of work to obtain proper approvals
Directly creating or modifying data sources (primarily SQL Views and Stored Procedures) and designing necessary business logic through SQL Management Studio
Designing the visual form/report representation in Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel or Procede’s proprietary business intelligence tool
Working with end users of all levels to load files into test environment and developing test scenarios to ensure thorough validation
Working with end users of all levels to load files into production environment and providing written instructions
or verbal training on necessary procedures to effectively run the form/report
The BRD daily activities will include:
Understand Excede DMS table structures (MS SQL backend) and data sources to optimize report generation and be capable of working directly with customers to translate user requests into technical requirements
Connect to data sources to run report tests and validation using real customer data
Produce or modify reports and dashboards
Monitor performance of the reports and take corrective action to optimize or improve the performance of the reports when necessary
Assist in isolating dependencies with printers and/or print drivers as they relate to the performance of forms/reports
Maintain an accurate inventory of requested and available reports and applicable modifications
Evaluate uniqueness of requests and offer template solutions or identify ways to re-purpose existing report content, including consolidation of multiple data sources into a single source / standard
Special projects as assigned by management
Experience designing (from scratch) and modifying existing documents using Crystal Reports 8.5, 2008 or above is preferred
Minimum 1-year report design/development experience is required
Viewing and modifying direct SQL queries from SQL Management Studio is required
Ability to understand, write and modify intermediate to advanced SQL syntax – including Select statements, SQL Views and Stored
Procedures, table joins, and grouping
Punctual, reliable, accurate and attentive to detail with the ability to apply creative thinking for outside-of-the-box solutions
Ability to think quickly and produce high-quality results under strict deadlines, including successful management of high volume requests in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment with the ability to shift priorities as needed
Demonstrates interpersonal skills in working with staff and customers in a professional manner
Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience and vice-versa
Effectively work with Procede Software management, staff, and clients; to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately to achieve results for Procede Software, including active participation in team initiative planning and brainstorming, meetings and discussions, and proactive team contributions
May require rare travel to dealership locations to consult with customers onsite
and holidays; ability to obtain a passport for international travel, as requested.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience may be substituted for education
