Outstanding Biotech company seeks candidate to perform hands-on role and be responsible for assays, experiments, and tests that underlie the development of the company’s products. The person who fills this role will ideally have a strong background across molecular biology and biochemistry, with application to the development of novel assays.

Responsibilities and Duties:

•Directly performs and analyzes experiments that underlie the development of novel assays, including the use of nucleic acid detection, fluorescence-based techniques, and binding and kinetic analyses

•Designs and documents protocols and performs tests for both industry-standard (e.g., quantitative PCR) and internally-developed, novel assays

•Effectively troubleshoots tests, assays, and experiments on a proactive basis

•Partners effectively with other members of the Assay Development team as well as Engineering, Quality, Marketing, and all other groups in support of Product Development objectives

•Generates high-quality reports on experiments and tests performed and otherwise effectively communicates experimental findings at internal company meetings and in other formats as needed

•Other duties as assigned.


•Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering or a closely related field, with 3-5 years of experience

•Experience in the optimization and development of molecular and/or biochemical assays preferred

•Expertise in fluorescence-based detection methodologies highly preferred

•Familiarity with standard statistical packages (i.e. JMP) for data analysis preferred

•Background in analytical studies that support verification and validation of IVD assays is a significant plus

•Strong verbal and written communication skills;

•Ability to exercise independent judgment to determine methods and procedures on new assignments

•Detail oriented with strong troubleshooting capabilities.
