For Sale: Solar panel 42in X 21in, mount and mounting brackets/hardware. Solar panel 130W from Overland Solar. The mount is a TV wall mount. Yes it’s true. 😊 This allows the Solar panel to be moved into advantageous positions to get maximum sun when parked.
I searched/bought several TV mounts to find one that collapsed as low as possible to the roof rack(i.e. to a wall if had a TV) and that also had max rotation front-to-back on the roof rack, and as much side-to-side rotation as possible. I don’t recall the brand name but I can try to find it.
The underside of the frame of the solar panel was reinforced and bolted with painted aluminum flat bar, adding grip handles at both ends to enable easy maneuvering of the panel to the desired position into the sun. Tabs were incorporated into the flat bar-- front and back-- to secure the panel to the roof rack(Zip ties did the trick for me). Holes were meticulously cut in parallel on opposite sides on the lower portion of the mount to accommodate a stainless-steel bars(2) to pass between them that would hold the panel in a desired position. With movement of the sun, the Solar panel can be readjusted simply by moving these bars in either direction and tilting the panel. Typically, when I would overland/camp, I would park my Toyota -- front to back-- inline with the arc of the sun that day as best I could guess, making it easy to get the panel directly -perpendicular- to the sun most the day.
Ideal for Overland roof racks and RV's, etc
I have more pics if you’re considering it.
