My goal is to show you how to code independently, by developing fundamental concepts and techniques. As necessary, I will assist you to clear frustrating roadblocks. My students know me as a friendly, patient person.
I am a graduate of UCSD with a degree in Physics. I have over 30 years of computer programming experience in a range of languages and systems. These include c++, Python, assembly, Java, HTML/JavaScript, c#, FORTRAN, JSON, REST API, Microsoft COM and .NET, bash script, Basic, and Pascal. Systems I have developed on include Linux, Windows, MacOS, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other 8-bit microelectronics. I specialize in Linux based software.
I have assisted with robotics projects including robot arms, autonomous cars, and video/audio recording systems based on Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I have coached students participating in the Science Olympiad, local science fairs, and class final projects. Please be aware that I will only guide with these events, you are primarily on your own to produce your competitive design.
I have been tutoring full time for 12 years, both privately and at a college tutorial center. Prior to this, I worked for 15 years as a scientific programmer, specializing in modeling and simulation of high energy physics. I continue to work part time developing add-ins for CAD systems utilizing laser scanning and point cloud modeling technologies. I am also involved in researching the emerging AI technologies.
I am currently available Monday through Thursday mornings, through late afternoon, but I will consider other times and days on request.
