Chibbs was out one night and darted away from me when I tried to bring him in. I thought he would come in first thing in the morning so I didn’t chase him. Then he didn’t show up and we all began to fear the worse. We drove through our entire neighborhood, went to the humane society, contacted Simply Cats as well as our vet and several local vets. We activated a missing cat report with HomeAgain, his microchip company, and created a post on this community and Nextdoor.
We created the posts the day before Chibbs came home. After almost a week of being gone, he came running into the house as my daughter was leaving for school. I am not sure if someone was possibly holding Chibbs believing him to be a lost kitten (though he does have a collar with all our contact information) and when they saw the post let him come home, or if he was just out roaming and got stuck somewhere. Regardless, I think spreading the word that we missed and loved him definitely helped!
I would recommend them because this is an excellent way of spreading the word that your pet is missing and how important he or she is to your family. It helps create awareness for people near you to be on the lookout and offers support as you are worrying about your lost fur baby!
