We are selling our beloved 2003 Boxster S after countless fun day trips, adventures up the coast and weekend drives in the mountains. Owned by a car nerd and his patient wife, we have taken care of this Boxster as if it was going to be our forever car. It's in fantastic condition and is ready to fully enjoy as is.
This particular Boxster has a lot of highlights you'd want for a 986S, including being of the later models with heated glass rear window, better suspension, updated styling, locking glovebox, more power. It was optioned with the upgraded Bose audio system, factory windstop, heated seats, stability control, xenon headlights, and 18" Turbo wheels. Only modifications are a quality aftermarket radio for bluetooth and USB (original radio included) and a Rennline magnetic phone mount.
The exterior looks pretty stunning from any distance, but it does have a smattering of tiny stone chips on the hood and front bumper (as would be expected for ~90k miles). Up close and under very bright lighting you can see faint scratches/swirls in the clearcoat. There is a 2" small dent on the bottom-right of the rear bumper from previous ownership. On either side of the soft top, there is a thumb-width pulling of the fabric from some pinch point when the top is down. I've had two convertible top experts inspect and they said everything looks normal, so we just reinforced each interior side with additional fabric to prevent any further wear. Minor/normal wear to leather on seats and handbrake from regular use. Convertible top, spoiler, trunks, heated seats, etc all work normally.
The engine was replaced during our ownership with a 'newer' 2003 Porsche Boxster S 3.2L (approx 69k total miles on motor now). I attended a 'High Performance Driving Event' for my 40th birthday in the desert in the summer and learned a very hard lesson that day about temperature management. Needless to say, that was the only time this car saw a track under our ownership. New engine was sourced from a Porsche dealer technician at Beaverton Porsche (near Portland) with full inspection, LN Engineering's "IMS Retrofit", new AOS, water pump, belts, gaskets, etc. Also did brand new OEM brake rotors & pads after the driving event, so everything is minty fresh now. Installed by Performance Independent in San Diego. They noted clutch at 75% life remaining at time of install. We've put about 5k happy miles on it since the install in 2023.
With the refreshed engine and brakes, the only maintenance per factory schedule for next 50k miles are fluids and filters. Have all the receipts since new chronologically in a binder with a matching spreadsheet. Recently detailed and waxed. Michelin's have a good amount of life left.
Just get in, put the top down and drive.
We've absolutely loved our time with this car, but with a 1-year-old in our lives now we are driving it less and less. We'd rather it get enjoyed in the sun than just look pretty in the garage (although that's been nice too).
