Are you selling your sports cards to Clairemont? Honey Hole? All-Star? Supreme? Ross? SD Sports Cards? Coastal?....or at shows?
WHY?
I saw a guy go into one of these shops the other day with 15 Shohei RC's....comp'ed them out himself to $2K....store comp'ed them out at $1790....made an offer at half...$895....and were generous enough to round up to $900....for the hottest player on the planet?? When the seller said he was going to spend that in the store...they didn't increase the offer for store credit at all. This is not the first...nor the last...you or I will see this.
Convenience is one thing....getting robbed is another. If you have vintage (baseball, basketball & football) cards, wax, hot RC's.....or the big three...MJ, Kobe, Shohei Please consider looking elsewhere. getting 50% isn't bad on most things....but that is only what you get on the Mantle's and Shohei's...the rest you are getting a much smaller percentage.
Why not sell from the comfort of your home? Get closer to the value you want? Sure everyone has the 12.5-15% ebay fees...but not everybody has rent/overhead/staff....so those non brick-and-mortar buyers can offer you a bit more. For a teaser...I can't imagine any individual buyer not offering between 1300-1500 for that same stack of Ohtani's....had I not been in the store...I sure would have!
