We have been working on restoring our 36B for many years, but current circumstances are going to prevent us from seeing the project through to the end.
The dirty work is done and the project is at a point where we are starting to put it all back together. But, to get the boat back in the water will require re-powering, re-rigging, installing mast hardware and wiring, a new roller furler (if desired), installing pumps, a new triducer, and finishing up some electrical work. We were planning to install an electric motor, but because the engine bay is empty and clean, installing a diesel is still an option. The longer to do list includes a new main sail, refrigeration, water heater and plumbing, swim step install, windlass, wood work and finish/trim work throughout the boat.
Things that have been completed or are in progress include:
Maretron digital DC switching (in progress)
New DC wiring (in progress)
New AC wiring (in progress)
New Galvanic isolator
New Victron Inverter/Charger
New ELCI main breaker

The boat is in a DIY yard in San Diego which is closing at the end of March 2026. So, the boat needs be moved by then. For what it’s worth, we got a recent quote to have the boat moved from San Diego to northern WA for $9823.00. Earlier this year, a 42’ boat was moved from the yard to the Bay Area (Berkeley) for ~$6,500.00.
How much do we want for the boat? Well, we recognize that a new owner will assume multiple costs, and we don’t want to add too much to that. We would prefer the boat go back in the water, not in a dumpster. Should someone express interest, I am sure we can come up with an appropriate price.
If you, or someone you know, might be interested, reach out to us to arrange a phone call to discuss. If you want to take a look, let’s set up a time for you to stop by.
