I've decided to sell my beautiful 1978 Cheoy Lee sloop-rigged sailboat as I just don't use it enough to justify the monthly costs. It is a Richards hull and rig design, but has a different interior, as the prior owner had it custom built for his family: Instead of a circular dining setup it is linear, and it has two large quarter berths. I am the second owner.
I have not had it surveyed - you are welcome to - but I can assure you that it is in excellent condition, the prior owners were OCD about keeping it perfect. They lived on it for 14 years in the Mediterranean and sailed across the Atlantic twice. I bought it after it took on some water and ruined the (very old) Volvo-Penta engine and some pumps; I installed a new Volvo-Penta engine and tranny and rebuilt the electrical system.
The prior owners replaced the old 3/8" teak with a new 3/4" teak deck a year or so before I bought it, making it seven or eight years old. They installed a new windlass just before I bought it. I recently rebuilt and refinished the hatches and am currently in the process of completely refinishing the brightwork, which is starting to look very nice again. I completely rebuilt the electrical system and it's much better than factory now. There are solar panels and the bimini is set up for them but I've not reinstalled them - the electrical system is set up to receive them. There are about 200 meters of 3/8" anchor chain plus rode.
The fridge is a 110/12v/gas powered marine type that opens from the side (I have it out for a repair); you have to be on a port tack to open it if you don't want stuff to fall out. There are not many electronics aboard; most were removed by the former owner (which is okay, as they were obsolete). It has a watermaker but it's not hooked up right now; the old pump froze up and I've never gotten around to fixing it, though I still have it.
As you can see the upholstery is limited. I have all new material for making new cushions but haven't gotten around to it.
The sails are in good condition. The rigging is probably 10 years old but in excellent condition; the prior owner re-rigged it before returning from Europe and it has hardly been sailed since.
I have a ton of miscellaneous parts and supplies, including three self-steerers, lines and sheets, and extra sails including a never used storm trisail, for which there is a parallel track on the mast. I have not inventoried it all yet.
I might entertain a sharing arrangement, either a monthly contribution for use, or possibly an equity arrangement. Obviously we'd have to have a clear understanding and compatible visions to make either work, but it could be a way to get into a very nice boat at a very reasonable cost.
It's currently at Shelter Island; the slip is probably not transferable, but if having a slip is important a shared ownership arrangement, even if I were keeping only a small interest, would keep me on the lease and the boat in its place.
I haven't decided on an asking price yet; it has been difficult coming to the decision to sell, and this is my first ad floating it. I am willing to entertain serious offers. (Feel free to offer me something on the low end of the range, that's normal, but don't be insulting with a low-ball offer -- I have a one-strike policy and won't talk to you again if you do.)
I will add more photos later. Drop me a line if you'd like to chat about her.
