Kung Fu Buddha
Made by recently-deceased San Diego artist/sculptor/woodworker Lorenzo Foncerrada
as a model for a full-size gilt statue commissioned by a Sacramento, CA restaurant.
“Fonce” was raised in a family from Guadalajara that counted Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo,
Tine Modotti, Edward Weston, Jean Charlot, and Donal Hord as close artistic friends.
15.5” tall. One of a kind. Made of unfired sculptor modelling clay, now hardened. Has several large
drying cracks here and there, but with a good gauge metal armature, it is nevertheless strong.
