The student will work under the guidance of Senior Technical Writers on small to moderate tasks, which will include proofreading, editing, validating links, using and validating HTML code, writing technical descriptions, building online manuals, building tutorials, editing and posting online articles, and creating and testing online Help Systems.
Requires exceptional attention to detail and exceptional writing skills, along with the ability to grasp technical concepts and tools quickly and produce high-quality results on time.
You will learn to use the full suite of software tools employed by advanced technical writing teams while collaborating with Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Specialists on a variety of writing, editing, and validation projects in the field of Web and data security.
Flexible schedule during business hours Monday through Friday. Possibility of weekend hours.
Essential Functions:
*Participates and helps in the design activities of the technical writing team.
*Installs and uses customer software as part of the documentation process.
*Writes, edits, and proofreads technical materials of small to moderate size and complexity, working from written and oral requirements, specifications, and hands-on product use.
*Assists in the development of prototype versions of written materials.
*Provides regular feedback (detailed status reports) to supervisor on progress.
Qualifications:
*Education: BS/MS in progress in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
*Experience: Significant writing experience and some software programming preferred
*Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Databases, HTML
*Ability to work in a team environment and develop enterprise-quality written materials, under the direction of senior staff and management.
*Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Every day you could be:
Maintaining strong familiarity and dialog with the game community by reading and posting to official forums, external forums and Web sites.
Delivering regular community feedback reports to the game development team, customer service, quality assurance and management.
Moderating message boards to ensure that messages stay on topic and adhere to the code of conduct.
Supporting the growth of external community Web sites by establishing and maintaining contact with Web site operators.
Using your familiarity with the nuances of the game community to support marketing and public relations efforts.
Assisting in the development of Web content that the community is most interested in viewing.
Supporting events, both in- and out-of-game, such as conventions, contests and developer chats.
Supporting customer service efforts to inform customers of known issues and providing additional online support coverage when necessary.
Writing game documentation and release notes for game updates.
What we'd like to see:
Written and verbal fluency in English and French is required.
Experience moderating online communities through forums, Web sites and other platforms.
Ability to communicate and comprehend technical topics clearly in writing and in conversation.
An understanding of the massively multiplayer online game genre, including development and customer service issues.
Strong interpersonal writing skills and a professional, friendly disposition.
A willingness and ability to occasionally work extended hours and to be on-call for emergencies during evenings and weekends. (We try to keep it to a minimum, but it will happen from time to time.)
