General Atomics is a leader in defense and energy technologies. Our corporate headquarters is located in beautiful San Diego, CA and we are looking for an experienced Janitorial Manager to join our team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
-This position is responsible for managing the maintenance and cleaning of buildings, grounds
and office areas for multiple company facilities
-Plans and directs employee activities to achieve assignments using established guidelines,
procedures and policies
-Establishes and modifies operational procedures and maintains up to date accurate
documentation and reports to reflect department activities
Essential Functions:
-Plans daily activities and monitors work performance of department employees
-Coordinates job activities between staff, work requestor and other work crews
-Prepares material requisitions and maintains stock levels as required
-Approves timecards for correct and valid charges
-Analyzes equipment needs and makes recommendations to senior management
-Ensures that health and safety practices and procedures are followed
-Establishes and modifies operational procedures
-Interfaces with other departments, facilities, and units to ensure maximum customer support
-Participates in the selection, retention and development of personnel including interviewing,
performance appraisals and promotion recommendations
-Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
-Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and
practices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a Bachelors degree
and eight or more years progressively complex experience in environmental services
-Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of education
-Must demonstrate a complete understanding of environmental services principles, concepts,
theories, regulations and practices; ability to use and train personnel in the use of power
equipment used in the performance of this job; and leadership skills including organizing,
planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines and milestones
Must possess:
-A valid California driver’s license with a good driving record verified by the DMV
-Ability to resolve non-routine to moderately complex problems
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, management and
outside representatives
-The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
-Good computer skills
-Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work
extended hours and travel as required
