Cardio Belly Dance classes taught by Marianna Tuesday nights 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm


Get fit while having fun! Cardio – Belly dance is a fitness oriented class incorporating belly dance movements and combinations

Class structure:
- warm up
- slight stretching
- lots of hip / torso isolations, various shimmies and combinations
- ab – workout
- cool down
- stretching.

Benefits of belly dance:
- improved posture and balance
- improved confidence, acceptance of one’s own body
- flexibility of the hips and upper body
- increased muscle tone, especially in muscles that are not used frequently (hip flexors, obliques, etc)
- emotional well being, connecting with people that share the same interest
- being exposed to another cultures music, dance and customs

Benefits of cardio belly dance:
- All of the above plus
- Increased heart rate, increased circulation
- Increased metabolism (burning fat and calories)
- Low impact exercise, does not put stress on joints
- Low and high intensity intervals so it can be sustained for longer time (60 minutes)
- All of these can lead to weight loss, especially with a healthy diet


In this class the main focus is continuous movement, so we do not slow down / stop for instruction and corrections, however the movements used are basic, and Marianna always puts proper posture and safety first. As belly dance generally, cardio belly dance is also perfect for all ages, because this dance form is always low impact – we don’t hop on our feet or put stress on our joints (as opposed to high impact aerobic classes, step aerobics, etc)
Prior knowledge of belly dance is not mandatory, however the students are encouraged to take the Beginner class.

Bring a small towel and water because you will sweat!
Exercise wear recommended, no tennis shoes in class, barefoot / ballet slippers / foot undies / foot paws recommended.
