PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Webmaster works with all constituencies at Keck Graduate Institute to maintain an engaging, up-to-date website that reflects KGI’s mission and values. Responsibilities include administering the Ingeniux-based content management system; managing users, groups, and workflow approval processes; training new departmental content authors; continually reviewing content for currency, consistency, spelling, grammar and syntax; updating content in any unassigned portions of the site; and interacting with the Web-hosting company (Ingeniux) in matters requiring technical support. To perform the duties of this position successfully, the incumbent must be willing to combine high-level strategic thinking with hands-on website duties.

Preference given to candidates with prior experience using the Ingeniux CMS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
1. Work with KGI constituencies to create and maintain content to ensure a current, vibrant website.
2. Manage users and groups in conjunction with the Ingeniux content management system. Includes assigning permissions that limit users’ access to specific portions of the site and setting work flow parameters for approval of content changes. Conduct the final webpage review before publication.
3. Train new users in the Ingeniux CMS.
4. Prepare reusable resources such as templates, standards, picture/graphic library, directory, calendars, etc. for inclusion on webpages by contributing users.
5. Thoroughly understand the CMS’s capabilities and communicate this understanding to users to ensure maximum website effectiveness and attractiveness. Contribute to and manage changes in the architecture and navigation of the site. Provide expertise regarding Web best practices, continually evaluate website usability and incorporate new technologies as appropriate.
6. Interact with the host company Ingeniux when technical assistance is needed.
7. Work on special projects such as the formatting of pages for new programs, construction of new design elements (flash, rotators, etc.), setting up streaming content, etc.
8. Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Familiarity with the Ingeniux content management system.
2. Excellent writing skills, superb interpersonal skills and a commitment to working in a cooperative environment.
3. Familiarity with Web best practices as they pertain to usability, navigation, search engine optimization, security, quality assurance, reporting.
4. Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as HTML, XML, CSS and other applicable web technologies.
5. Knowledge of graphic design and associated software, such as Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Office Suite, and Dreamweaver; includes knowledge of color palettes, fonts, and photograph/image formatting.
6. Ability to initiate projects and solve problems independently.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
2. Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in web administration.
3. Other Preferences: Preference will be given to applicants with experience in academic environments.

OTHER:
1. Hours: The regular hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hours may vary according to the needs of the Institute or department.
2. Classification and Status: This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.
