We are a text mining company located in West Mira Mesa that has developed unique technology to extract latent relationships from unstructured data and is looking for hands-on, creative and detail-oriented people who can further the development of our systems. We are a 10 year old self-funded and profitable company, positioned successfully in the hottest market segment in the industry (the Information Access market as defined by Gartner). We are looking for talented Java software developers with experience translating technologies into innovative products. This is a full time permanent staff position.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Design and write high quality and scalable software
• Contribute to key architectural decisions
• Gather, implement, and test critical system requirements
• Write your own unit tests
• Review documentation and code created by the development team
• Facilitate and contribute to QA test plans. Help with testing as the need arises.
• Contribute to system design/deployment and performance optimization
• Drive best practices coding standards and configuration management

Required skills/education:

• Java, Object Oriented Design, design patterns
• Distributed and multi-threaded applications
• XML/XSL, SQL/Oracle, Regular Expressions, UI experience (JSP, JavaScript, Rails)
• Large-scale enterprise application development experience
• 5+ years in software development with at least one full product lifecycle experience
• Knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux from a development perspective
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and algorithm skills
• BS or higher in Computer Science

Desired skills:

• Information Retrieval (IR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Linguistics
• PERL or similar scripting language
• Actual experience in Agile Development methodologies
• Knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux from a deployment perspective
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Search experience (e.g. Lucene/ Nutch)
