Genoptix, Inc. is a fast-growing clinical laboratory focused on a complete offering of diagnostic medical services for patients with blood and related cancers. Currently, we have an open position in our Carlsbad, CA facility for a Research Associate.

Summary

The Research Associate, BioPharma Services would be a part of a growing group of research scientists and technicians. Genoptix BioPharm Services, a part of Genoptix, Inc., works to support clinical trials through full-service hematology/oncology testing. Our esoteric laboratory combines a highly trained professional staff experienced in assay development and validation using sophisticated instrumentation for optimal test efficiency and quality control. We focus on providing high-level, personalized services to our clients to aid in biomarker assay development, patient eligibility/stratification in Phase I-III clinical trials, efficacy endpoints, and lab results interpretation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Note: Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist in implementation of new technologies, DNA microarrays, Luminex multiplex bead array tests.
• Support clinical trial specimen testing using flow cytometry, ELISA assays, PBMC preparation.
• Perform new clinical molecular assay validations, including nucleic acid isolation and PCR.
• Perform lab QC, including temperature monitoring, instrument checking, pipette calibration, etc.

Qualifications

• Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques (cell-based assays, flow cytometry, etc).
• Meticulous attention to detail, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.
• Knowledge of statistical methods is desirable.
• Independence, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years experience in cell-biology, oncology or related biological sciences.
• Experience in molecular biology including microarrays, assay development, flow cytometry, preferably within a clinical or biopharm lab setting.
