BILINGUAL EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE SPECIALIST

General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Family Development, provides direct and indirect services to a caseload of culturally diverse families and/or individuals who are engaged in improving their overall life functioning.

Specific Activities
Provides case management to include interviewing, assessing, solution seeking, goal setting, referral and advocacy, life skills training and family building.
Provides emergency assistance as it relates to Family Development Services. This may include the provision of basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and/or crisis intervention, guidance, referral and information.
Meets with clients on a walk-in and appointment scheduled basis.
Facilitates rental orientation to include financial literacy information.
Remains culturally sensitive and respectful in all client and staff interactions.
Identifies family strengths that can be applied to overcoming identified family challenges that prevent or hinder participants from becoming self-sufficient.
Using the above identified traits, helps families define goals and concrete, specific methods of achieving those goals.
Assists, guides and motivates families toward self-sufficiency as defined by agency standards and funding sources.
Provides client advocacy and Life Skills training as needed by individual clients.
Provides support in the form of reflective listening, emotional support, challenge identification and solution seeking.
Maintains on-going contact with program participants in medium term rental assistance to build trusting relationships, provide support, serve as a referral source and monitor participant progress in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner.
Makes home visits as part of the client assessment process.
Maintains detailed case files and documents data and statistics as required by program and funding sources.
Establishes new linkages and maintains existing linkages with referral sources, agencies and organizations.
Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training programs and other meetings as required.
Maintains collaborative relationships with community partners.
Responsible for meeting monthly contract goals to ensure pay-points are achieved.
Achieves objectives as outlined in employee work agreement.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
BA and 2 years of experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Compatible with the agency purpose to enhance the positive quality of life for individuals, families and the community in a manner that is culturally sensitive to the population being served. Knowledge of Human Development, Structure and Movement. Strong skills in interviewing, rapport building, assessment, goal setting and motivating individuals and families. Ability to work to a successful conclusion. Ability to identify client strengths as relevant to overcoming identified challenges to self-sufficiency. Must be organized and capable of maintaining detailed case files and documentation of progress in a professional manner. Ability to establish appropriate boundaries with clients and co-workers. Must develop knowledge of contract requirements. Some availability after 5:00 p.m. to meet client needs.

Salary
$15.10 - $16.60/hr. DOE, plus $0.58 bilingual compensation. Benefits according to Personnel Policy Manual. EOE
