DON'T MISS THIS REAL ROOTS SHOW!!!

In today’s society where many have become extremely health conscious, watching everything they put into their stomach, Jah Mex is on a mission to help people watch what they put in their minds. He creates his own style of reggae music and lyrical electricity to express conscious messages.

Last summer in 2007 Jah Mex locked himself inside his home studio, organized six years worth of writings, and produced a demo called Mind Food. Songs from Mind Food including “Jah Pick Me Up”, “Still Searching”, and “Conscious Revolution”, have become inspirational anthems in southern California, and are now spreading to the international reggae community. Mex is now working on his first full length album which will include new versions of the six songs on Mind Food, and eight more original songs.

Jah Mex’s name was born along with his dream to have a family restaurant that blends Mexican food and Jamaican food called: "Jah Mex". As a Chicano (Mexican/American) raised in Southern California, he discovered reggae music through the surf culture in his home town, Dana Point. Influenced by his Grandpa Gutierrez who played gospel music on the piano by ear, Jah Mex also learned to play the keyboards by ear. Immediately after he grasped the basic fundamentals of chords and music scales, he began to write words and music.

Jah Mex has played keyboards with international and local reggae artists including Eek-A-Mouse, Junior Reid, Mighty Diamonds, The Melodians, Tippa Irie, Abijah, Four 20 Band, Fresh Roots, Boomshaka, Upstream, Lesterfari & Kings Music, Lions Den, Local Culture, Chapter 11, Skarcha, Higher Lion, World Anthem, Rebel Rockers, Smoothie Jones, and Crucial.
