Special Education School Director - The
Learning Academy
Grade 3rd through 12th (ages 8-22)
Meeting individualized educational needs in a therapeutic setting
The TERI Learning Academy serves students with developmental disabilities, 8 to
22 years of age. The Learning Academy is specifically designed to provide
one-on-one educational and therapeutic programs to students, primarily those
with autism, whose behavior precludes their inclusion in public school or other
private special education programs. The program includes vocational, academic,
daily living skills, and intensive behavioral supports. It is designed to assist
students in reintegrating into their home school district or less intensive
settings as appropriate, and the staff are highly trained and qualified to serve
this unique population. Included in the curriculum is individualized
consultation for physical therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, speech
therapy, and psychological services. The Learning Academy students are referred
by their home district, which incurs the cost of placement.
Student's daily schedules are specifically designed to meet each student's
individualized needs. Students are provided with 1:1 instruction in community
settings at least weekly, as well as offered sensory integration therapy, social
skills training, therapeutic equestrian services, music therapy, swimming
therapy.
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 based on education and experience + Benefits
Job Requirements: Management, program management or supervisory experience required, minimum 5 years working with children or adults with Developmental Disabilities (autism preferred), California Special Education credential moderate to severe disabilities preferred.
