Color Spot Nurseries has been a leader in the wholesale production of color and ornamental plants for over 25 years. We are currently seeking an Operations Controller to join our team!
Responsible for the sites accounting process including the financial closing and reporting, weekly reports, costing and inventory accounting and management of payroll/human resources function. Co-responsibility for the accuracy of inputs to MRP which affect costing and inventory accounting and for site internal controls. In this role, you will work closely with the General Manager on the planning, scheduling, and budgeting process for the site. Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly reports pertaining to each for management review.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage efficient, effective, functionally-integrated processes including analysis, expense processing and accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and asset accounting.
Ensure that business processes are controlled and managed in accordance with Color Spots financial and operating policies.
Develop and lead the business planning process across different functions to generate a consolidated annual operating plan. Costs and overall financial performance to provide local and Corporate management visibility to the direction of the business.
Conduct thorough, insightful business analysis of variances to plan; summarize salient points for management and make recommendations for corrective action.
Coach, mentor, develop and measure team performance to meet service level expectations.
Provide assistance to the production department during physical inventories, including administrating physical count of finished goods and raw materials. Processing all paperwork and follow up on variances.
Assist with test counts or audits
Print and distribute inventory count reports, variances,
Provide the Facility Management Team with facility financial data
Provide financial data to the General Manager and Facilitys Management team for the preparation of the annual operating plan.
Makes recommendations to General Manager and Divisional Controller on operational and financial controls and develops procedures to improve existing systems by analyzing and anticipating performance trends and external events.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
BS degree in Accounting or related area preferred with three to five years Accounting Manager or Controller experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, Access with SAP a definite plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) excellent listening, interpretation, and reasoning skills necessary.
Must be an independent thinker and innovative problem-solver.
Ability to foster strong relationships with team members and external clients
Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information
Excellent organizational / time management skills
Able to meet tight deadlines in time sensitive situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
