Looking to start something up, only real issue right now is pinning down a good place to practice. Influences are pretty varied, guess I'm looking for something in the Jay Reatard, Black Lips, King Khan and (all his various projects) kind of style to start and then see what it morphs into. I also listen to all sorts of crazy indie, old school soul/funk, and so on though, so if you just want to get together and create vast pompous noise soundscapes, or whatever else, I'm down for that too. I mostly play the guitar, am decent enough at singing, and have lately started laying down small song sketches since I took a pretty long break from song writing. I can play most other standard rock band instruments though my ability with them varies, but I only have guitar equipment right now as I purged a good amount of my stuff after college. I'm 28 and live in OB, and can devote at least 2 days a week if not more to practicing.

Really, I'm happy enough just to drink some beers and play some raucous garage rock.

My influences range from Incubus, The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, to surf guitar, Joe Satriani, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Black Sabbath. Really I think I like variety. Our lead singer has packed up and left for Europe permanently and we're looking for a male or female vocalist to complete our quartet. We currently have a guitarist/song writer (Darius), a kick ass drummer (Niels) and amazing bass player (Scott).

We're a relatively new band that was making steady progress towards becoming established locally before this setback. We've already played out and have completed 6 songs. Our sound is a combination of driving drums, heavy, distorted, effect-laden guitar, and the occasional melodic, melancholy sync. Influences include Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, the Pixies, Galaxie 500, Mission of Burma, Radiohead, Blonde Redhead, The Bravery, Interpol, The Dandy Warhols, and the like. If you're familiar with any of these bands (especially Joy Division), you'll know how important bass is to the sound.

We offer a very collaborative atmosphere....no big egos. All we ask is that you are respectful and can commit to one night a week to practice (maybe two before a show). Cliche as it sounds, if you're a self-described flake, we're not the right fit for you. All three of us are professional engineers and have demanding lives so we cherish the time we set aside for music.

8 songs ready for an LP. The style is progressive rock with some metal and punk.... basically a mix up of different influences. A demo was posted online last year and got over 10,000 plays on each song, and i didn't even cheat. got all kinds of love from all over the internet..it was a crappy recording too. I've got a keyboardist that uber talented.
A bassist would be great for live, but for tracking we got that covered. Unless your an epic bassist that insists on auditioning... lol we are not holding our breath on that one haha.
We are looking for a hard hitter. Someone that can play double bass when needed, has creative fills and uses the right cymbals at the right time. It's very important that the drummer can play on a click track. Rehearsals will be in Clairemont. The right drummer will only need about 4-5 rehearsals before being ready to track. Scratch tracks will be provided.

Your first gig will be at our CD release gig at The Soda Bar in El Cajon on December 4. Followed by gigs on the 11th and 17th.

My name is Lorenzo. And I am one of the guitarist for my band 'weburndaylight'. The band has been together since the beginning of 09' and things have been good and rough for us. We have been through a few members already and the main reason is that they can not take the band seriously. The problem we have, we need a new drummer. Our old one was just too hard to work with, but he was a good guy. And is never able to show up to practice. And we have lost a few other members because they think that smoking weed is more fun than music.

To break this all down. We are sick and tired of bull shitters and flakes. We need new members who can take this seriously. Chris and I know exactly what we are doing. We know how to write, and we know what to write. W also have amazing experience of how to put that down and make songs. We are not a general "riff break down riff breakdown" band. No, we want to be able to stick out from other bands. We have a good practice space. And we have all the recording gear you will need. But we just havent started recording as a band as much as we would want to. We own Macs, many mics, and all the plugins software you would need form Superior Drummer to Auto Tune. Some of our influences are bands like Mychildren Mybride, AUGUST BURNS RED , As I Lay Dying, Emmure, ABACABB, As Blood Runs Black, Liferuiner, Parkway Drive, Whitechapel, and many more. BTW. If you like a day to remember or worship bring me the horizon, please dont contact us. Another thing about us is we are TIRED of the scene in san diego. How deserving bands dont get noticed because of people worshiping horrible bands.

What we NEED in a drummer is that you must be a very articulate player. It would be AMAZING if you knew time signatures, or at least the basic idea of them. And good gear,.
And another VERY important part. Space in your room or practice space for us.
Chris and my favorite drummers are of August Burns Red And Mychildren Mybride. They complate the band, and without their drums, it would sound like shit. And the drums in metal, is what makes or breaks a band. And Chris and I have been writing so much stuff. And we know what we want. If you think that you can help us out, please. PLEASE. At least give us a call/text/ or e mail.

All that we ask if that you can be serious about this band. We have more knowledge about music and the industry than most local bands learn to know in a very long time. We know how we can get noticed and star recording. PLEASE, no flakes. We need you to be committed too the band, and be able to show up to practice we we request of it. And if you enjoy smoking weed 24 hours a day, get lost. Go get help. Please. You must also have decent gear. I beat up kit with broken cymbals isnt cutting it.

Which is cool too! But we can't rely on the person to show up if they're that far out there, can we? I mean transportation costs from the dark side of the moon are expensive... Really... Fuel costs, TSA security fees, baggage charges... It is all very expensive! Plus they'd have to land at LAX and, frankly, I don't like the drive.

So your aged folks are still complaining that they paid for years of piano lessons but you don't play... You didn't give a fuck, because you were in your twenties and nothing matters then except getting fucked (up). Now, in your thirties or early forties, you're feeling REALLY guilty... I'm an average guitar player and slightly above average singer just looking to meet some cool people who like to fiddle around on the guitar and make an attempt at playing some good tunes. I'm open to your originals, too, but I haven't any myself. I'm a big U2 fan, so I play a bunch of their tunes, but I like all sorts of music. I have a collection of covers I like to play, which seem to be mostly mellow. I need to expand my repertoire, I'm sure. I can keep a decent rhythm, and I'm hoping to find someone who plays a little lead. Not great, or I'd be intimidated. :-) I'm an entrepreneur (real estate investor) and prefer to jam with another professional. Always nice to meet some folks with compatible interests. I can record you on-location with my professional grade hardware and make your band sound unbelievably good. I can help you figure out what's wrong with a certain song and how to fix it.

I've got high-end and mid-range gear. Gotham cables, high-end 118db A/D and D/A converters, API pre's and modded 1073 clones that are indistinguishable from the original. I'm not sporting $3000 mics. But I know what I'm doing and I know how to use what I have to get that sound. I've got the right things in the right places in my hardware chain, and I'm young enough to know how to...quickly replace drums with MIDI by hand, for example, and use a fucking computer.
