I am a classical musician, instructor, writer and composer currently living in Rancho Bernardo. Prior to the fires, I had been preparing for a home purchase, but because the fires affected me so severely, I am now in a position to have to rent for several more years.
As a renter, I am one of the rare tenants who will care for a home as if it were my own and bring to it the highest level of taste and cleanliness (in the extreme), always leaving it in better condition than that in which I found it. When renting, I seek private home-owners who will appreciate me for the responsible person I am and the exceptional care I will give their properties by offering me an exceptionally low rental cost with little or no deposit.

RE Smoking: I do not smoke (or drink), and I will not allow smoking anywhere on a property I inhabit.
RE Floors: I have a shoes-off policy in my home, and I clean floors several times per week. I prefer hard floors (i.e. ceramic tile, stone), but I have an Oreck XL vacuum cleaner for fine carpeting.
RE Appliances: I have a stacked washer/dryer (gas), but I hand-wash most of my clothing. I am vegan/raw, so I use stoves infrequently, and my refrigerator is always free from the mess and smells of animal products. I do not use microwaves or dishwashers.
RE Yard/Garden: I like to plant herbs and vegetables; if you have a small yard, I will care for it, with your permission. I strongly dislike leaf-blowing machines; I prefer to rake and sweep, and I do so weekly.
RE Trash/Recycling: I accumulate exceptionally little trash, and I carry my own recycling to my nearest recycling plant. My trash and recycling bins remain clean.
RE Car: I drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla with no leaks.
RE Pets: I have two, clean, well-behaved, indoor cats, who are accustomed to using pine shavings for litter (result: Clean floors, positive aroma, no damage to or odor in trash bins). The cats are brushed regularly, and I dust and clean air filters regularly.
RE Odors: I enjoy aromatherapy; I use candles and natural incense (i.e. dried lavender in contained, ceramic burners), *responsibly*.

My wife and I are 28, we are hard working La Jolla professionals with stable jobs, and we have good ethics and habits. We met in high school orchestra class, and we have been together for 13 years (married for 7). We went to UCSD and graduated in 2003. She works at UCSD and I work in the Cove at a large (and well capitalized) financial firm. We plan on buying a house (or your place?) sometime in 2012 when we are ready for kids, and we are saving money at a rapid pace towards this goal. My wife enjoys photography, and we are both violinists.
We have been living in a nice home in Rancho Bernardo, 1600 sq ft, since 4/2005. The commute is 50 miles/day, getting more expensive by the week, and we really want to live in La Jolla again.
Newer construction preferred, and we would like to live in a place that you (the landlord) have put some effort into making into a nice place. We will treat and respect your condo as if it was our own. Garage parking would be great.
We are quiet, we don't have friends over, we rarely have family over, and we respect our neighbors. We keep our place in mint condition on account of my wife's obsessive cleaning, and we collect antique carpets, which cover a good amount of floor space.
We do not have children, and we do not plan on having children for at least 4-5 years. Instead, we have cats - please keep reading. They are indoor-only, clean and shorthair, well groomed, do NOT claw carpets or furniture, do not barf, are not loud, and basically just sit around all day and look annoyed at things. They are my wife's babies, and I can't do anything about it. If you require, I will give you a larger deposit to make up for this, enough to pay for all new carpeting upon our eventual departure - or at minimum I would expect an expensive cleaning service to come out of the deposit upon the end of our lease. We have our carpets cleaned every 6 months, and you can not smell cat in the house. We have had cat-allergic family stay with us who didn't have a problem. You (prospective landlord) are welcome to come to our house in Rancho Bernardo and see for yourself how our carpet/furniture looks, once we see your property.
We are asking $1500 because of our goal to buy a house. We can afford more, but that won't put us in a house in 2011. We will be the best, most trouble-free renters you've ever had. We can provide character references and professional references from all over La Jolla, and you can rest assured knowing that we are not going to create any stressful situations for you. I understand that we are requesting a low rent, possibly lower than you had considered, however please also consider the value of everything that I have written. You want to have good people in your space, and we are not going to be a liability for you.
Also, if you plan on not paying your mortgage, or if you just stopped and you've moved out, we will consider renting from you. If you default, just give us notice as soon as you know, so that we can make other arrangements.

Recently turned 24 in April. Have 2 jobs...3 times a week I’ll be at work from 9am-9pm. Go to school...bio major cause I want to become a PA (Physician Assistant). During the week if I’m not at school or have work, I like to hang out at home relaxing watching TV or reading. If I'm not too tired during the week and have the time I like the occasional Happy Hour with friends and/or roommate. I don’t smoke nor do drugs but I do ENJOY drinking. LOL! On the weekends I LOVE to spend time out with my friends and/or roommate...especially on Sundays cause that is my only day off to do whatever I want. I like to cook and I always clean up after myself. I have yet to have a roommate that doesn’t like me or one that I am not still friends with. I seriously am VERY easy to get along with...anyone that knows me can tell you that.

Look- we are 30 somethings, responsible, pay all our bills, clean, homeowners, personable, well educated, "normal", don't drink or smoke, love the outdoors and well...would do you right. I'm also open to the option of sharing rent with a roommate, however I am social and would probably have friends over on a regular basis. they are all respectful and nice easy going guys.
You would have to be social as well, and ok with having a few partys, or get togethers every once in a while. Nothing out of control.
Respect is key! Clean up your shit and don't make a mess. I'm very neat and clean and organized. I'm pretty type A. I expect my kitchen table to be clean enough to do surgery on it.
And be friendly. I'm not expecting to be best friends with a roommate, but don't be an asshole either, just be laid back, chillin', and all.
