I didn't mean to suggest that 'po folks' should have an ocean view. But when a sizable fraction of the work force migrates long distances into and out of an area during work hours we all pay for it in the ways I enumerated; traffic congestion, air pollution and resource depletion. The only ones to benefit, over and above those paid little more than subsistence level wages, are the employers. Meanwhile everyone will be subsidizing the situation only few people benefit from [sounds suspiciously like 'socialism' doesn't it?] either by sitting idled in smog and traffic or seeing to it that somehow people either live within a reasonable proximity to where they work or can rely on a decent public transit system.
