Bush To Ask OPEC For Production Boost
President Bush will again ask OPEC to increase oil production when he visits Saudi Arabia next week, a senior White House official said Wednesday.
National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said oil producing countries need to consider the economic health of the global community as they set prices.
"Suppliers of oil as they consider their pricing policies and as they consider their production targets need to take into account the economic health of the global community," Hadley said.
The president is scheduled to visit Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to try to advance the stalled peace process. He will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of Israel's creation and 75 years of U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, oil prices continued their record rise, peaking at $123.89 a barrel in New York.
