POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: Registrar


DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Exempt X Non-Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
* Maintain records of objects collection and artifact conservation.
-Registers and assigns accession and catalog numbers to all objects in collection, according to established registration system. Composes concise description of objects, and records descriptions on file cards and in collection catalogs.
-Accepts, examines artifacts donations and maintains records of storage, exhibit, and loan locations of all objects in collection.
-Prepares acquisition reports for review of curatorial and administrative staff.
-Periodically reviews and evaluates registration and catalog system to maintain applicability, consistency, and operation.
-Recommends changes in recordkeeping procedures to achieve maximum accessibility to and efficient retrieval of collection objects.
-Arranges for insurance of objects on loan or special exhibition, or recommends insurance coverage on parts of or entire collection.

*Assists the Arts and Cultural committee in seeking artists and planning exhibitions.

*Collects and prepares reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information.

*Performs clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program brochure, and other publications.

*Assists in designing an educational program relating to the artifacts collection.

*Develops interpretive plans for the artifacts collection to enhance visitor’s learning experience through our collection.

*Organizes free Tuesdays, rummage or silent auctions sales

*Attends park meetings and represents the organization


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

***Applicants MUST have Collection Management Certification and/or experience on Museum Collection Management***

A Bachelors degree or similar experience is desired

Excellent written and oral communications

General understanding of a nonprofit environment

Well organized and able to juggle several projects and priorities at once. Able to work with a Board of Directors
