Overview
This position reports to the Merchandise Manager and supports the execution of the category planning and execution in terms of assortment, new product development, creative layouts and pricing. This individual will also directly manage categories that are smaller in revenue size, enabling them to demonstrate the ability to develop category strategy and grow into Manager level responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Support Merchandise Manager in maintaining product assortment plan and developing category strategy, developing new products and maintaining vendor relationships
Update assortment plan and keep product database updated
Support product development process for your category. Handle product samples, and track product samples. Help ensure products are designed according to specifications, quality and cost/margin targets.
Work with Merchandising Manager to establish the spread content and overall design flow for catalog for your category. Lead copy and photo briefs for products. Attend photography as appropriate.
Report on merchandising metrics for weekly and monthly reports
Provide buying support to the Merchandise Manager
Work with Merchandising Operations to ensure product data integrity. Submit copy and/or price changes.
Submit project initiation requests on behalf of Merchandise Manager
Work with Merchandising Operations team to ensure operational needs are addressed (packaging, quality control, product personalization, etc.)
Ensure cross-functional coordination and team-based approach, working closely with internal partners in Marketing, Sourcing and Inventory Management
Work with Inventory management maintaining inventory levels, overseeing markdown compliance
Conduct regular site audits to ensure products are merchandised fully and accurately
Qualifications
1-3 years experience merchandising/buying, preferably in a retail environment
Experienced in planning, prioritizing, problem solving, and managing a budget
Demonstrated experience executing a product vision, with the guidance of a Merchandise Manager that aligns with company brand and aesthetic
Able to synthesize sales data, customer insights, competitive and market trends, and market data into merchandising strategies
Clear understanding of the importance of price, value, quality, and imagery as it relates to product assortment, product line development and its projected success

Creative, bright individual who is business savvy and demonstrates good judgment
Bachelors degree or equivalent
