The San Diego Modeling July Meeting

This Meetup Group has been established to facilitate contact between models, photographers, make-up artists, and professional representatives of talent agencies. The rules are simple. We will promote tasteful photography ONLY with no exceptions. Agents wishing to attend should first contact the Group Organizer.
Many people just starting out in modeling have very little information regarding what is required of them to initiate and build a broad and balanced professional portfolio. This Meetup Group will provide them with all the necessary information to simplify this task. More experienced models will be able to share tips and stories that will further enlighten them and guide them through their journey. Those wishing to enter a career in modeling must realize that, even though they may be "encouraged" to do nude photography to get a job, it is completely unnecessary.
Photographers will be able to meet models who need portfolios and thereby work with them in a time for print (TFP) or time for CD (TFCD) fashion. This is a "win-win" scenario that benefits both the photographer and the model. We encourage fashion photography, parts photography (i.e. hands, hair, etc.), product photography and swimsuit photography. On a more mature level, photographers can help models with tasteful lingerie photography in accordance with the guidlines of the Meetup Group. Photographers may work with more experienced models via remunerative negotiation. This type of negotiation is not part of the Meetup Group agenda.
The book, Professional Model Portfolios: A Step-by-Step Guide for Photographers, is recommended to both models and photographers. Make-up artists are always welcome. We know that you need portfolios of your fantastic work and we would like to include you in the Group as valued members.
Professional representatives of talent agencies are quite welcome. We know you can help models make the proper contacts that will thus enable them to begin a career in modeling. We welcome your stories as a learning experience for us all!
Other than this our hope is to make this a social venue where we can all share stimulating conversation about model and fashion photography, and have fun at the same time! There is no fee for this meeting, but initially I will ask for donations ($2 each, one time only per 6 months) to offset the $72 spent to start this Meetup Group. Once I get sponsors, we will no longer need to do this in the future.
The location of the meeting is Pat & Oscars in Mira Mesa off the I-15 by Edwrds Cinema, and we have priority group outdoor seating.

This is the first meet up for the So Cal Business Exchange Meet Up Group. The plan is to meet at a restaurant or other venue for a simple dinner, which the event fee covers. Hi everybody the next theme for Club Catalina when I return from NAAFA in Los Angeles and the Las Vegas BBW Bash on July 26th will be a Jamaica/Reggae Party Theme!! We will be partying to the best of reggae: Bob Marley, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Blakc Uhuru, Beenie Man, Damian Marley, Bounty killer, Burning Spear. Buju Banton,Jimmy Cliff and the top 40 on Reggae dance music. You can also bring your favorite reggae cd's for us to dance to for the Reggae Theme Party. We will also be dancing to local San Diego Reggae bands so get ready to party when I return from Las Vegas and we have our Jamaica Reggae Theme Party on Saturday July 26th!! I already have my out fit picked out for the night too and I'm hoping many of you will come dressed in theme to make the night even more fun. The club will be decorated Jamaica style with the colors of Jamaica, flags of Jamaica, posters and pictures of famous Jamaicans in history. There will be about half Reggae music played and half of Hip Hop so the best of both worlds!!

I still have some Club Catalina key chains so if you didn't get yours last week than you have another chance on July 26th. The kitchen will be open starting at 6 pm and the food is great, prices are very reasonable. You can have dinner before the club and get in for only $5 if you are there before 10 pm!!

Stay Fit Walking - Women inspiring women

Make new friends, stay motivated and follow a healthy path that includes friendship, exercise and nutrition.

I have coached women between the ages of 20 and 50 (one-on-one) as a personal trainer and have encouraged them (and myself at the same time) to exercise and explore their health habits while talking about their lives - with the intention to release stress, work out 'just a little bit' harder, feel great and get in shape.

As a huge advocate of exercise, communication and women, this group will support women of all body types and will help motivate you to get outside, make new connections and to keep moving.

Each walk will be an hour long beginning at 8am on Sundays. It will be in different locations each week and will include a weekly (simple) recipe that you can incorporate into your daily diet using whole grains, vegetables and lean meats. Each week also will include various resistance exercises for diversity of training.

For training reasons, the group will be no more than 10 and no less than five women. There will be a $15 fee per session, per person. Or, $125 for 10 sessions.

I created this group with a vision that we can share a sense of community as MOMS, while giving our kids a diverse and accepting environment that they can be a part of too. I have found that for me, it takes time with new MOM friends/acqaintances-for me to open up and choose to out oneself-or not. This is a safe community for us where we can relate as parents who share a common bond. This is where we can skip the apprehension and guessing commonly associated with meeting new moms and get right to the friendship and fun. My daughter is everything to me and it is vital that she experience the diversity of "family". I also know that we could all use a night out once in a while...Regardless of the age(s) of your children, YOU are welcome. We will offer kid friendly meetups, and ones just for us Moms. It is a collaborative effort and I encourage you all to make suggestions, and watch it manifest and grow!! We are an accepting, non judgemental group that is welcoming to all Lesbian and Bisexual Moms, their Female partners and their kids. This group and it's meetups are for women only.

Family Movie Night

Info below-but my 2 cents are that these people are great-I went to the last movie night and it was 90% lesbian moms and we watched a movie on the huge screen they have at the Center (as big as a movie theater, really). The movie was for adults, so the kids were in an adjacent room watching kid's movies and doing art, games, etc. with the many childcare people..I totally felt comfortable with her in there. This time, being a family movie, we will all be in the same room and it will be fun. Kids of all ages are welcome.

Bring your favorite family movie and each family will vote on which movie is shown. Dinner of pizza, juice & soft drinks will be served and popcorn for during the movie. Only $10.00 per family. Bring blankets, sleeping bags and /or pillows
for sitting on the floor. (Chairs will be available, but kids like to lie on the floor.) You must RSVP by July 9, to Jane at jschmoll@thecentersd.org or (619) 692-2077.
