PAYROLL TITLE: PROGRAMMER/ANALYST IV
FULL SALARY RANGE: $71,400 - $128,600 / ANNUALLY

DESCRIPTION:
The Portal Developer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining web-based Portals and campus-facing information systems as well as defining the User Interface (UI) framework for web application development. The Portal applications are an aggregation of sub-systems including the content management system, interactive campus map, calendar aggregator, portal widgets, and mobile systems, serving the entire UC San Diego campus and the general public. The Portal Developer ensures the quality, data integrity, performance, and security of systems, performs technical project management, task allocation, analysis, design, development, mentoring, code reviews, delegation, and coordination with campus clients and other departmental teams. Other duties include regularly meeting with functional customers and committees, supporting installation and testing of complex software, leading the design and development effort of a department-wide User Interface (UI) framework for standardized web application development, and providing assistance and training to programmers across the department and campus on the UI framework, tools, and design standards. The Portal Developer will also work closely with the Campus Web Office to extend the UI framework for campus-wide use and consistent look and feel of content and applications.
This position will be required to travel and work evenings and weekends, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field, or equivalent work experience
*Expertise in web applicable Java technologies such as Java EE/J2EE, JSP, Spring MVC, servlets, etc. and all related industry standard best practices and/or patterns.
*Demonstrated expertise in Internet technologies, standards compliant, cross browser, HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, HTTP and CGI.
*Demonstrated expertise in programming and supporting UNIX and web-based applications.
*Demonstrated expertise in web-application development User Interface technologies (Presentation Layer), tools, standards, best practices, and integration into large administrative systems.
*Experience with Content Management Systems, preferably with Hannon Hill Cascade Server application suite.
*Demonstrated expertise in one or more database technologies including DB2, Sybase, Oracle and/or mySQL (DB2 preferred).
