Residential A&E Design Manager (MEP)

Direct Hire, Full Time, Permanent Position

The selected candidate will have the coveted opportunity to work with a nationally recognized leader in the planning and implementation of community-focused programs. Our client provides architecture, program / construction management, and IMS/GIS services and products to the public and private sector.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Organize and execute sustainable design initiatives within the context of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (M/E/P) systems
  • Provide design coordination and administrative oversight of all design phase activities
  • In concert with the Design Team, coordinate the development of the mechanical and electrical drawings with the architectural plan set for new and/or existing buildings
  • Assist with QA/QC of project-related documentation, including the review of mechanical and electrical drawings and their coordination with architectural plans
  • Conduct and/or direct existing conditions surveys, inclusive of the deployment of instrumentation such as power meters and data loggers to measure equipment energy performance
  • Assist with evaluations and recommendations for cost-effective measures to improve comfort, safety and energy efficiency savings solutions for homeowners and small businesses
  • Ability to incorporate building envelope detail, materials and specification information to construct an energy model to determine a building's efficiency under various design conditions and to design modifications to the building envelope that result in greater energy efficiency
  • Research, monitor and report on energy efficiency incentive programs, including the process for rebates and incentives
  • Ability to participate in marketing and business development activities
Position Qualifications:
  • Must have design experience in envelope improvements and retrofits, as well as M/E/P systems in both the single- and multi-family residential environment
  • Knowledge of energy efficient technologies associated with commercial/residential building systems to support energy efficiency program efforts, including design, development and delivery services
  • Design management experience and the ability to coordinate the development of building plans, contracts, regulations and specifications
  • Experience with Noise Mitigation ideal
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture or Construction Management
  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership and team management
  • Strong verbal, written, computer, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel required; Visio and AutoCAD preferred
  • Superior organizational, project, time management and resource planning skills, and proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Minimum five years' experience in construction industry; majority of experience in residential / light commercial construction and M/E/P environment
  • Experience within energy, engineering or commercial construction project environment highly desired
  • Experience performing energy audits and energy savings calculations
  • Fluent in the understanding of LEED requirements
  • Knowledge of energy efficient technologies and renewable energy and practices to retrofit existing buildings and design new buildings
  • Knowledge of building envelope assemblies and performance, HVAC systems, energy controls, ventilation and insulation requirements
  • Knowledge of residential construction or home improvement programs
  • Knowledge of residential building and light commercial codes and regulations
