Job Description:
The Family & Learning Center is looking to fill one part-time Educational Coach Position for 20-30 hours each week. An Educational Coach is a tutor who specializes in teaching students strategies for learning, accompanied by skills based training on curriculum material. Additionally, Educational Coaches administer specialized remediation programs in the areas of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension, writing, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning. Educational Coaches receive approximately 100 hours of in-depth initial training, followed by weekly professional development. The training encompasses specialized teaching techniques, curriculum, learning strategies, developmental psychology, and the brain's learning processes. In a typical week Educational Coaches work one-on-one with students and spend several hours on instructional preparation and professional development.
Hours are Monday and Tuesday, approximately 2pm – 8pm; Wednesday and Thursday, 12:30 – 8pm; and Friday, 2 – 6pm. Saturday availability is beneficial.
Position begins between November 16th and December 1st.
Qualifications:
This is an excellent position for recent college graduates of all majors, who have an interest in teaching or tutoring. Currently, we are looking for individuals with the ability to tutor high school level math and science.
- BA/ BS Degree
- Experience working with children, including teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or athletic coaching
- Solid knowledge of high school level math and science, including algebra, geometry, and chemistry
- Strong skills in writing and reading comprehension
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Previous work experience
- Desire to maintain a part-time professional position
