San Diego Mindfulness Meditation Group was founded to promote the practice of Somatic Mindfulness Meditation, a unique kind of Mindfulness practice that springs from the tradition of Theravada Buddhism with an emphasis on Awareness, Insight, Loving-kindness, Generosity, Compassion, and Present Centeredness, and at the same time nurtures the ability to be comfortable with the full range of human emotional, physical, and mental experience. The foundation for this practice is the mindfulness of the in and out breath, which then becomes the basis for the ability to ride the waves of one's joy, sadness, anger, ecstasy, disappointment, love, fear, fatigue, and more. One of the many truths of the Buddha is that life comprises that which we have attraction for and that which we are averse to. Each creates its own cycle of suffering. When we meet life in the present we have a greater chance at knowing when we are experiencing attraction and when we are experiencing aversion. We then have the chance to act freely and not automatically. And that is a beginning to the end of suffering and the beginning of a truly happy life. Welcome!

This is a comprehensive introduction to the practice of a particular style of Mindfulness Meditation called Somatic Mindfulness. There is an emphasis on the open awareness of our emotional states, of what those states feel like in our bodies, and how they affect us positively and negatively. We learn a technique that enables us to let go of or "discharge" the effects of emotions lodged in our Mind-Body. At the same time we develop the capacity to work flexibly with our feeling, mental, and intellectual states, with loving kindness towards ourselves and others.

This is a practice that is beautiful, peaceful, and easy to learn. It is wonderful for developing inner peace and calm, and for loosening the fixed ways we have learned to react to adversity in our lives.

I have taught this kind of meditation for the past 16 years to people with anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction issues, pain conditions, and more, and just for inner peace and personal growth, with wonderful results.

My friend is looking for brides to come to skin care and makeup classes. The classes are completely free and she just had a baby via C-Section and took some time off so she needs to pamper 15 brides by July 11th to make up for lost time! You get to try the basic line, microdermabrasion, lip and hand treatment, and we go over basic color techniques. You can learn how to get your skin in great shape before your big day and she also offers free makeup services on your wedding day. If you do want to invite bridesmaids, friends, or family you get a gift valued up to $65 when you bring 3 or more people as a thank you from her. The Redirecting Children�s Behavior course is back! This is an excellent curriculum and the YMCA offers it at a special rate. You will be amazed at the amount of user friendly information offered and how fast it works! This 5 week family life skills course is being held on Saturdays, July 12-August 9.
